Playing the piano with one of my children

This website was founded by myself, Jeremiah K. Jones. I am an engineer with a passion for classical piano. I studied piano performance with Dr. Paul Pollei at BYU (read this to see why I switched from music to engineering) but eventually settled on an engineering degree instead. So now I moonlight as an amateur recording artist :) I choose to provide my recordings free to the public as a way of sparking interest in classical music. How did this start? Well...

After making my 2003 recording, "Steps to Ascend", I decided to put the album on my family website where others would be able to download and listen to the music. As search engines began to pick up my site, I noticed that there were literally hundreds of people downloading and listening to my music (the most popular selection happened to be Franz Liszt's "Love Dreams", or "Liebestraume"). I was excited to see so many people being able to share the joy of classical music with me.

So then I dedicated an entire site to my recordings and enjoyed knowing that I had again found an outlet to my passion for music and that I could share my talent with others even without having time for serious study and public performances. Eventually I put my music on iTunes as a free podcast which helped me set the goal of providing a new recording as frequently as possible. Preferrably no less than once per month. So please come back and visit often so that you don't miss out on any new recordings!

Although I've been providing music free through my website since 2003, in early 2008 I decided to invite my listeners to participate in my recordings by signing the lid of my future recording piano through a donation. All donations will go towards the purchase of a new Steinway Model B. Once I have enouch to purchase the piano I will have all of the names printed permanently on the lid of the piano. You may read more about this endeavor and keep up to date with the progress at blog.signmypiano.com. If you have enjoyed my music, please consider making a donation!

If you would like more information about this site, or if you have any questions/feedback then please contact me.

Last of all, this really is free classical music that you can download!

About the Name "Lisztonian"

The name "Lisztonian" was chosen as a tribute to my favorite composer and pianist, The Great Franz Liszt. This particular variation on his name was chosen on a whim, and did not involve much research or pondering. In fact, the domain name was originally purchased for a school project, and I did not intend on keeping it for more than a year. It wasn't until just today (Nov 2, 2004) that my wife mentioned that the name is similar to the famous Smithsonian Institute. I suppose my sub-conscious played a part in choosing the name "Lisztonian."

I looked up the origin of the Smithsonian name to see if I could draw some great correlation to the Lisztonian name that I chose, but discovered that the name isn't derived from 'Smith,' but is actually derived from 'Smithson'. So I guess the better name to have chosen would have been "Lisztian," but now I am attached to "Lisztonian," so that is what the name will remain as!

In any case, the name of this site indicates my great respect and admiration for The Great Franz Liszt. His life is largely misconstrued by modern history books and fables. I am quite sorrowful at how history has painted such an incorrect and corrupt picture of such an amazing human being. If anybody is interested in learning about the real Franz Liszt, then I highly recommend reading Alan Walker's three volume biography.
